“I could tell that they had really great homecooking because the usual mexican coleslaw that came with the pupusa was soft and tasty & not too hot, not hard and chewy & hot that you usually find near Mission & 30th St.”
Frugal C., San Francisco
"The aunthentic delicious Salvadorian food is to die for. I would strongly recommend this restaurant to anyone."

WHO WE ARE
Reina pictured on the left. Rosario Gomez, Reina's daughter and Customer Contact Manager, pictured on the right.
Reina was born in El Salvador, a small Central American country famous for their exquisite pupusas.
She grew up cooking and helping her mother Chayo in the local market. There she learned the value of working hard and making delicious and affordable meals for their patrons. Her journey to the United States is similar to many. The economic conditions of her country made it difficult to raise her children. She came to United States and worked very hard to have her three children join her. Reina worked in many small restaurants in the San Francisco Bay Area in the capacity of waiter and cook.

Eventually she was able to open "Reina's Restaurant" in 1991. There, she developed a menu with recipes that represent the authentic flavors of Salvadorean cuisine.
The restaurant is located on Mission Street near Geneva Avenue and is a spot for many gatherings where families and friends get together to enjoy the authentic traditional Salvadorean and Mexican dishes which are prepared with her client's satisfaction in mind. Many of her clients say that her food reminds them of their grandma or mom's cooking, of their childhood growing up in El Salvador.
Reina is always happy to greet her customers, some who have been returning since she first open the doors in 1991.

It is no surprise, given the flavorful and delicious touch of Reina, that we were named "SF Best Pupusas by SF Gate"
